redhat 9 superblock error

hey How is it going? I am using redhat 9, and I have used he search option but have not found the anwser to my problem. As I stated before I am using redat 9. Just a few days ago the power went out, and I restarted my comp But I recieved an error message that as follows:

"While the sys was checking the root filesys: I recieved a message /etc/fstab deso not contain fsck passno field. I should fix my /etc/fstab file as soon as a I can.

Also /: The superblock could not read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. if the device is valid and it contains an ext2 filesystem, (and not swap or ufs or something else) then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock: e2fsck -b 8193 <device>.

In addition to all of this, fsck.ext2: is a dir while trying to open /.

p.s. I have tried linux rescue and I revieved an error occurred while trying to mount some or all of your sys. Some of it may be mounted under /mnt/sysimage.
"

The superblock could not read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. if the device is valid and it contains an ext2 filesystem, (and not swap or ufs or something else) then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock.

thanks all-Jason I.

dood, do you have any insight? as to how I can fix my problem? My fault about double posting, I just thought that if I double up on the post I can get a quicker response. I won't do it again.

thanks Jason
