Where do I go to read up on how to configure my redhat 9 server? Is there somewhere either in the forum here or in some articles where I can readup on configuration?

What do you want to configure exactly? Apache, mysql, sendmail?

It depends on what kind of server you are trying to configure. This forum is the best place to start for most any jumping off point. The next thing to do is to read the man pages for whatever type of application you will be running.

web = Apache
mail = Sendmail
SQL = MySQL
etc.....

I would also recommend making a trip to the closest Barnes & Noble or Books a' Million and obtain whatever documentation they have. Then after you read the man pages, search this forum, and go through the manual if you still have problems, post on the forum. That's why we're all here!! Now, have some fun!!!

Ok, well the problem is that I've got the server working so I can see it, but I can't figure out how to get it working so other people can see it...?

what is your problem?

i have everything setup, and I think i know my ip, but i can't see the server (well I can, but nobody else can) so the problem is, does being behind a wireless hub matter? if so, can i fix that? if not, then what do i need to configure to make my server visible?

If you mean "seeing" from windoze machines you will have to configure Samba. That will allow any non-Linux machine to see and access the files on the linux machine. Samba is relatively easy to configure and get going but needs to have the security tightened-up once you get it going. Check out their website www.samba.org for some documentation and how-to's. Now if you mean "seeing" it from other machines it will depend on what kind your referring to. If they are running linux and are on the same subnet I believe that they should be able to see each other without starting Samba. I may be wrong in that so check on their website. One question is can you ping it from other machines once it is on the network. If not then none of the above will do you any good and you will have to solve that problem first. Probably would have to do with your network configuration and method of ip address assignment. Check on these things and then re-post.
