Redhat 9 Installation problem

I am attempting to install Redhat 9 onto my Win XP machine that I just built a few weeks ago (first PC Build) and I encounter the following error:

<0>Kernal panic: Attempted to kill init!

I verified the ISO files were good with the MD5SUM, searched the boards here for "Kernal Panic" but nothing seemed to apply.

My PC setup is:
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2600+
Motherboard: Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra
HD: 80GB Segate Barracuda 2MB Cache
Video Card: ATI RADEON 9500 PRO 128MB
Memory: KVR333X64C25/512M (Kingston)
CD RW: Artec 52x24x52 CD-RW
DVD ROM: Artec 16x DVD

When I set the machine up for WinXP, I left 10GB of HD space unallocated specifically for doing a Linux install. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Mr. N00b

I think that the problem is Red Hat is stumbling on your Radeon 9500 card. I do not know how to make Red Hat work with the Radeon 9500. There is an awful lot of discussion about this problem in other threads on this forum.

I suggest that you use the "search" function to search the forum for Radeon 9500.

Was able to get the solution from some folks in IRC #linuxsupport.

It seems that Linux did not like the fact that Onboard IDE RAID was enabled in my BIOS, so I disabled it and was able to get into the install.
