Redhat 9 - how do I change window managers?
Every reboot my system loads KDE by default... where do i go, or what do I do to change the window manager?

Open an x terminal and type switchdesk gnome
If you want to change default login, you need to give your login manager if you use gui, otherwise you can put exec <command for wm/de> in your .xinitrc file if you use console login and startx. # Redhat links RedHat Linux Manuals Maximum RPM rpmfind Easier software management: apt4rpm - Red Carpet RedHat 8.0 Tips & Tricks # Redhat 8.0 configuration commands Configure soundcard: redhat-config-soundcard Configure X server: redhat-config-xfree86 Configure network: redhat-config-network |
Do you mean you can't chose between Gnome or KDE from the login screen? That is where you would normally choose the window manager. Did you install only KDE, or did you install Gnome as well? Did you load the documentation from Red Hat? There is a section in the Reference Manual about the /etc/sysconfig directory. In there is a file called 'desktop'. That is the file you need to edit if you can't get things to work the normal way.
