redhat 9 boot problem

I have redhat 9 its been working fine until today, i started the computer up and i get the error no operating system. I used the redhat 9 cd and used linux rescue nothing happened but i can access the root and see all my files. The bootloader grub is shown in the folder when i view it i think it was in boot folder, i think the problem is grub is not working properly.
How do i fix this? so grub will show the redhat i have on the harddrive. I have /dev/hda1 and /dev/hda2 . hda2 is swap and hda1 has my work on it, fdisk -l shows them.

Once you get into rescue mode, type the command

# chroot /mnt/sysimage

Next issue the command

# grub-install

this will reinstall grub on the MasterBootRecord.
