RedHat 9 and Modem
I'm a week old with Linux and wondered if anyone can recommend a good HOWTO guide on modem installation and getting the dial up to work.
I've unfortunately got an MDP 3380-W (Aztech) internal fax modem connected to Com3 and I have also a NetComm external m34F which I am also trying to get working on Com1. I have the dialup ppp0 configured with my ISP details. I have installed a driver for the MDP 3880 from Linxant.com. The driver is hsfmodem-6.03.00lnxt03091800free_k2.4.20_8-1rh.i386. I figure I'm probably missing something basic cause lack of knowledge. best and thanks lonbpf |
I think there is command like redhat-config-modem, to configure modem ckeck out !!!

1) Install wvdial from http://open.nit.ca/wiki/?page=WvDial if you dont have it.
2) In console run this command as root, wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf 3) read the messages to see if your modem is found. Once u find it, it should be simple. Simply edit /etc/wvdial.conf with your isp details. Hope this helps |
