Are you sure that when you are in the partitioning screen, that each partition is set to be formatted? Are you sure they ARE being formatted? Again, also check how much is being installed. Considering the size of your drive, I would limit the install to about 2GB or so. If you still can't figure it out, I would throw Redhat out the window, and get SuSE or Mandrake. I use SuSE 9.0 on my laptop and the install went very smooth! In fact, I think any Newb could have done it. :)

okay, this will be the final last try, then i give up (and the THC stops working...)
I have formated the disk with fdisk first and now i'll go again with the standard partition table. If it doesn't work again then i'll install SuSE. I'm downloading that one already.

Thanks anyway :)

Haha ... maybe your problem is the THC! Maybe you should take a break, and then try again with a clear head :)

No problem. Hope it works in the end. Send me another note at some point if you need more help. I am no expert, but I've been around the block a few times. I think you'll find SuSE 9.0 a little easier.

See ya!

BTW, as far as I know, you cannot download the SuSE ISO files to burn like you can with Mandrake, Fedora, etc. You can do a web install, but it's a little tricky. I've never done it, but you need a boot disk that will enable your broadband internet connection, and then you have to point the installer to the install files on an FTP site. You can buy the SuSE CDs (5) or DVD (2) on eBay for really cheap though. I have an extra set of 5 CD's here, but I am in Canada. I am sure someone would have them for sale for cheap over there someplace. After all, SuSE is German (well, it was, until Novell bought it anwyay) ... later :)

okay that's it, the transfer failed again!
fuck redhat on my laptop, maybe i'll give it a try once on my desktop pc.
first thing in the morning will be the install of SuSE!

over and out
