Unhappy redhat 8.0

Hi I have recently installed redhat 8.0 and have a variety of problems

the main one is the graphics

I have a creative pci geforce 2 mx 400

During the installation it spotted this as a generic geforce 2 mx
Great I thought

Everything seemed to work fine untill I tried to view some of the 3d screen savers and it was very slow I noticed in the display options that there is a box called 3d hardware acelleration. But I t is greyed out and I cannot selec it.

I have looked at the drivers and I think it is using the nv driver.

I have looked at the nvidia site but all the avalible files but being very new to this I could not decide which I needed

Someone please help. I ts probabbly something very simple but i Just Don't get it

Please visit the forum that''s on the nvidia site it has some wonderfull how to's, specifically read the one about installing the drivers in RH8. It works like a charm if you do it as STEEL1 says.

Judas, the files you want are the .tar.gz ones. Get both the kernel and glx ones (so that's 2 files... kernel.tar.gz and glx.tar.gz). You'll also need the readme file. It's really quite straight forward, but one caveat: Make sure you quit x (open a terminal, change to root, and type init 3) before you start to install anything.
