Redhat 7.2 w/Netgear 410tx, dont know how to implement solution?
Well this is the description of how to get it working, I downloaded the program fa_select, but unfortunately I have nary a clue how to get all this 'into' Linux, I would appreciate any help anyone has.
quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This card works well with a little prodding, namely the fa_select program available at http://www.gxsnmp.org/fa_select This is a relatively cheap 16-bit 10/100 NE2000 compatible PCMCIA NIC. The PCMCIA packages from 3.1.8 and up support it, but there is an odd problem with the hardware: The transmitter doesn't get activated when the card is inserted. It is possible to activate the card manually, however, using the fa_select program available at http://www.gxsnmp.org/fa_select . The trick is to run 'fa_select $DEVICE X' instead of the standard 'ifport $DEVICE Y' in the /etc/pcmcia/network.opts script. Values for X are: 0--10Mbit, half duplex; 1--10, full duplex; 2--100, half duplex; 3--100, full duplex. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
Hi
I used RH7.2 in my L/T with a Netgear fa410tx, it was detected by the install, and seemed fine. Sadly, it only worked properly in one of my 2 pcmcia slots, and the card seemed to die whenever the apmd switched off the screen. Added to this 7.2 with KDE/Gnome/anyWM was so slow on my LT that I decided there was something wrong with it! Am back running windoze at present (work) but shall return! Jim |
Any help out there?

Suggestion
This is only a suggestion guys:
Netgear cards seem to have alot of problems and so I opted for a more expensive 10/100 TX card form 3-Com. I've done alot of installations as a integrator and 3-Com was the best ethernet card around......:( |
