Redhat 7.2 vs Suse 7.3 installation probs

I thought I'd just throw a little bit of stuff on installing both w/ win2k. It was my first experience w/ Linux, btw

Currently my win2k is on the first partition of my hdd. I'd gotten Suse 7.3, and it did most of the installation automatically and flawlessly, even recommending 1st boot sector installation of lilo. Was able to dual-boot perfectly.

Then I installed Red-Hat 7.2, overwriting the Suse 7.3 installation by formatting the Suse partitions. Was given a choice of either lilo or grub. Chose grub in first boot sector. Upon rebooting, Was stuck at the LI screen (thought i installed grub?) - was not able to proceed any further. Reinstalled Redhat 7.2 again, overwriting the prev installation w/ formatting. Chose lilo this time - reboot. Hung at LI screen again. Lilo had apparently hung at second stage bootup. Reinstalled again, this time choosing MBR. Was able to boot up fine.

Have since switched back to Suse.
