Is there any way of upgrading kernel in some easy way for a complete newbie with a lot of willpower.

Well, the easiest thing for you to do it read the Howto at http://www.linuxdoc.org , If your completely unfamilar with the kernel, best thing to do is get the instructions from teh how to source. Either that or by the latest version of Suse that comes with 2.4 kernel, but me personally, don't use Suse and would recommend just reading, then installing/compiling.

I agree with Trickykid. Follow the directions and you shouldn't have any problems. But the second you assume you know what you are doing and jump ahead, wel...

Compiling the first time can be daunting. But after doing it a couple of times, it becomes old hat (unless you really like to tweak).
