redhat
i've got redhat discs, but the disk 2 is lost, so in order to install it i have to do a network install. but i can't find where to point the cd to. can some1 help me? i think all i need is a url.
what would be even better is if there is a way to install suse from the redhat cd. |
hi,
type linux askmethod at boot,if u dont have backups, try http method and point to iso image file on redhat website u didnt say me which version is it? regards, Tom. |
it's version 9 and that's what i did, but didn't know what to point to, wether it was an iso or rpm or maybe something else.
|
ok, now where the heck are the iso files for redhat linux 9? I can't find em anywhere, i keep getting broken links.
|
hi,
redhat 9 is an old version and there is no support for it now.My suggestion is bettr u upgrade to fedora.the current version of fedora is 6 (equal to redhat 15) anyhow, http://iso.linuxquestions.org/version.php?version=10 individual packages are available in http://download.fedoralegacy.org/redhat/9/ http://www.linuxhelp.net/linux_downloads/ regards, Tom. |
ok, how do i install fedora, from what i have? all i've got is a redhat 9 disk 1 and 3.
|
You don't start from RH9, you download & burn or beg/borrow Fedora CDs or DVD.
You can probably download a minimum file that willl allow you to network install also. http://fedora.redhat.com/ Easiest might be to contact your local LUG (Linux User Group) and get local/onsite help, free I believe. http://www.linux.org/groups/ |
what's the easiest way? I don't have a cd to burn. the computer i want to put it on is dual boot linux/windows. i was to put fedora on the linux hdd, can i do it from the windows hdd? oh and one more problem, grub seems to have gone bad somehow, it's giving me error code 2(whatever that is). so i've got to boot from the windows hdd.
|
Like I said, go to the link for LUGs and get some local help.

If your not firmly set on RedHat you can always swing by Ubuntus' web site and have them Ship you a copy of the previous version of Ubuntu for free...
