Question redhat 5.x or 6.x or 7.x..?

I am trying to download a rpm file which lists different files based on the release of redhat - 5.x or 6.x or 7.x etc

Question is - which release of redhat am I using?

uname -a tells me
2.6.9-55.0.2.EL #1

cat /etc/redhat-release tells me

cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 5)

So it is 4.x or 5.x?

Thanks in advance.

Neither. You're using Red Hat Enterprise Linux, which is not the same thing as the old Red Hat Linux. Red Hat 5.x, 6.x, and 7.x are ancient releases. Hope you find a version of the program you need that works for you.
