reddazz: Question about your desktop screens?

Would you mind telling me a couple of things about your desktop screenshots?

1. In your Gnome screenshot, you've got your app bar at the bottom. How did you do that?
2. In your KDE shot, what did you use to get the weather report and process information onto your screen like that? I use Gnome, so can this also run in Gnome?

Thanks.

P.S. I tried to send you a PM, but was told I didn't have permission.

On Gnome it's called gDesklets, on KDE it's something else (check kde-apps site, it's there). Desktop widgets. You need the "main program", then you download different widgets for it -- for example a toolbar, weather report, system report tools, news tools, ... pretty much anything you want. If you're using Gnome, simply install gDesklets and start getting the desklets themselves :)

p.S. I haven't found any that work well all the time, but they look nice on screenshots. For daily use, it just doesn't work.

Thank you very much for the info. I'll check them out.

Hi,

In GNOME, I removed most of the applets that were on the bottom panel and added them to the top one. After that I changed the width and height of the bottom panel to suite my taste. This can all be done using the options you get when you right click on the GNOME panels.

In KDE, I use superkaramba to display widgets. The weather display is called liquid weather++ and the system monitor is a modified version of a theme called cynapses. They are all available from kde-look. On GNOME, you can use gdesklets because superkaramba is mainly a KDE thing.

By the way, if you can't PM, send an email ;). If you click on a members name, you will be directed to a page which has a link for contacting the member.
