Red Hat menu icon...

How can I change the Red Hat menu icon, as well as the empty and full trash icons.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a thread somewhere on this, but I can't find it now.

Did you try to right click the icon, and go to properties, and click on the icon again. Hope this helps.

No, this icon behaves differently from the others. Right clicking on it doesn't give you the "properties" choice.

this can be changed by changing the theme
look n feel - themes
bluecurve uses the red hat symbol, if you try a different theme, you will see the "K" instead

How do I set a custom icon for this one ? ( or is that possible ? )

infamous41md 05-31-2003 04:50 PM

i was able to change all sorts of windows icons(explorer, start menu, boot screen) by finding the target image files and changing them. perhaps you could try the same for RedHat?

...sounds reasonable...I'll give that a try...

Thanks.

Okay...I changed to a different icon theme, so the desktop used the default KDE "K" icon for the menu.
I logged out, and logged back in as root. I went to /usr/share/icons/default.kde/48X48/apps
I selected/cut "kmenu.png" and pasted it in an arbitrary folder. (Temp)
Then I got my custom icon, made sure it was named "kmenu.png", and pasted it back into the original apps folder.

...logged back in as user, and there it was...

...probably pretty simple for most of you, but it's a small victory for me. :)
