Redhat is not free, have a look here CentOS and here Fedora for good free alternatives.

you can download a 30-days trial version if you registered with Redhat

If you don't want to pay, CentOS 5.2 is virtually identical.

And you shouldn't go for 5.2. Current is 5.5.
