Red Hat Enterprise 6 - Smartcard Authentication - Cannot Login
 

Greetings,

I just installed Red Hat 6 but when I try to login it prompts me to enter a "Smartcard Authentication" instead of a user name.

Does anyone know how to get pass this? and just login with the user name I created or the root?

Settings are described here: http://www.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red...sc-config.html, but you have to enter in graphic mode. Does the Alt-Ctrl-F2 method bring you to a virtual (text) console? If this is the case, maybe you can login from there and issue the startx command to switch to graphical mode. Just guessing.

Alt-Ctrl-F2 did not bring me into the virtual text console.

I visited that page but I did not find how to bypass this authentication, I think that page is just explanatory steps on how to configure a "smart-card".

What happens exactly (what do you see)? Have you tried other combinations with F1, F3 or F4?
Of course. It just explains where are the settings to enable/disable the Smart Card authentication. From the screenshot you've posted above, it appears the kerberos/password authentication is disabled and you're forced to insert a smart card. Do you remember if during the installation it asked or checked the "Require smart card for login" item?

At this point I think you've three options:
1) Trying to boot in single user mode
2) Trying to reinstall
3) Asking for Red Hat's support (if you've already registered the system with a valid subscription).
