Red Hat 9 can't find windows networked printer
Hola,
I have Red Hat 9.0 worstation in a windows2k peer to peer network. We share via a linksys router. I have samba installed and can see the windows shared folders, but not the printers. The printer in question is an HP R80 connected to a win2k workstation. The printer is shared to the everyone group (for now) and works from all windows stations. I have tried CUPP and Unix connections. The unix method worked for a day, but after dhcp assigned a new ip to the printer station it couldn't print. I deleted the printer from linux and tried to reconnect, but now it can't find the host. I can ping the win2k pc okay and can see its shared folders. What to do? -John |
I don't know the correct Linux answer, but what about setting the Windows machine to have a fixed IP address (rather than use DCHP and get a new one every boot).

The windows pc has an IP reservation. So from here on out it will have the same IP.

It would be nice to know a Linux-side answer.
