Red Hat 8.0 boot-up & log-in problems (help appreciated)

Hello,
Can anyone please advise why i'm unable to boot my PC whilst it's connected to my network router?.
Basically the loader is getting stuck at "Sendmail". I'm a Linux newbie and have no idea how to get around this other than disconnecting the network cable from the PCI NIC (if I do this my PC boots-up without problems but then I have to manually enable the network
adapter which is not ideal).
If I am able to boot-up the following message appears "Could not look up internet address for.. This will prevent GNOME from operating correctly. It may be possible to correct the problem by adding .to the file /etc/hosts. - Log in Anyway/Try Again.

Thank you in advance for any help, it's very much appreciated.

Just a quick work around:

In RH, go to your services menu and uncheck sendmail from startup. Save.

open your /etc/host file and add a line that says:

<ipaddress> <yourcomputername>

<ipaddress> is the PCs IP <yourcomputername> can be anything; example:

192.168.0.1 linuxbox

Hope that helps!
