recycle scanner driver..???
I have this Epson multifunction TX-105 and it worked fine with Hardy Heron. Now i am running Lucid Lynx and cannot find a driver for the scanner part. Question: is it safe to try the old script on this new Ubuntu version..? Printer was automatically detected and it's ok. Damn scanner is the one i want to activate. Gracias..!!

Hi,
My opinion is that your scanner works, you just don't have the permission to use it. Under Arch, I had to chgrp to the scanner group the printer device to use the scanner, and chgrp it back to printer to use the printer. (it was one of the devices under /sys/bus/usb/devices; what which number means isn't too hard to figure out from the lsusb command's output). I don't know how ubuntu manages multifunction devices, but in my experience they always were a PITA. Serafean |

I was asking if i could reuse same driver script that worked for Ubuntu 8.04 on Ubuntu 10.04. I'll do some further research before i take the leap...or buy another scanner :o) Thank you..!! |
There are two replies at the following web page that each claim to have found a scanner driver that works on Ubuntu 9.04. One or both may work on Ubuntu 10.04.
