recover linux drive

I had two Seagate Barracuda 1TB drives in a Linksys DNS323 NAS. The 323 stopped working and I can not access the drives. The DNS 323 is a linux system and the drives were formatted as 500GB RAID 1 and 500 GB RAID 0. I have a windows 7 laptop and would like to access the the hard drives. I have a SATA/IDE to USB convertor and can connect one drive to a USB port. The computer does not see the drive in explorer when it is connected. A USB detection driver did see a connected device but labelled it as unknown. Can anyone help with some instructions on how to see the linux drives via a USB port on a windows 7 laptop?

Some remarks:
- Windows is not able to handle Linux RAIDs, if they are software RAIDs, which is likely, as you have two different RAID types on the disks.
- Even if it would be able to handle the RAIDs it wouldn't be able to read the file-systems, thank Microsoft for not supporting them.
- You can try it with a Linux Live-CD, it should be able to see the disks.
- Unless you have to USB-adapters you will only be able to read the data from the RAID1 partition, for RAID0 you need to have both disks attached.
