Recover files from a Deleted User account


Hello,

I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!

I JUST DELETED A USER ACCOUNT IN FEDORA 8, BUT I FORGOT I HAD SOME IMPORTANT FILES THAT I NEED. IS THERE ANY WAY TO RECOVER THE FILES OR UNDELETE THE USER ACCOUNT?

Is the user's directory still in /home?

Deleting a useraccount doesn't delete its files, unless explicitly done. So just check your /home directory and the documents should be there.

Don't write any thing on the disk anymore! You don't want to overwrite anything.

1) If you are still logged in, stay logged in. If you have shutdown, boot using a LiveCD.
2) Check of home directory is there, or it is deleted.
3) Tell us the filesystem.

Hi thank you all for replying.

The file system is EXT3... I checked the Home directory and there is nothing there anymore.
