recover deleted icons on linux panel

Hello, new to linux. I have a new inspiron 1525 with linux mint. I was adding icons to my panel to see if I liked them and deleted those I did not. When I deleted one item my "lock" update icon disappeared as well as the power bar that shows the strength of my wireless connection. Can some tell me how to recover these please?

Hi,

You'll have to tell us what Xwindiws you are using first: KDE3, KDE4, Gnome, ...

Thanks.

You just deleted a multifunctional panel that's there by default - not a big issue. The only problem is that I can't tell you the exact name of the thing (my system's in German) - something like "message panel" (or "system messages") might be about it. You can add it again by right-clicking on the panel you want it to be in, click on "add to panel" and use the dialogue to find the correct thing. If need be, check out a couple of options. You don't have to dig into the menus, it's in the main list.
