Record Online Music

I have loaded RealPlayer 10 and now it is possible to run the online music sites and sites like BBC radio.

Now I want to record the music or programs playing online. I tried Audacity without success. Noting is recording. I even selected input source as Mic from KMix, that is also not working.

Please advise.

I am a staunch Linux supporter, but I do have extensive knowledge on both sides of the fence. Through a free Windows/Linux third party software application called "LimeWireLinux', I downloaded a WIndows ported application called "Acoustica". This software suite gave me the ability to put my voice along side a classical tune, along with sound effects I got from a customer's computer, (I am in the techno. business). The sound effects were true to life farts, I imitated myself sitting in the crowd at a classical music concert letting go the occasional fart, and tried to hide the fact that it was me who was letting them go. Acoustica blended a classical piece along with my voice and the farts sound effects that put all listeners into tears listening to this masterpiece.

It was hillarious, this Acoustica, I downloaded for free through a shareware application.

It will record whatever sounds come through the speakers of your computer in whatever format you choose from the list of formats it supports. BUT, I do not know if there is a Linux version.

I noticed something in your profile, "old but reliable", I am your brother, 2005 LE is in the same class as far as I am concerned. Not exactly "rock solid" but more like "Diamond solid".

Recording streams

I use streamtuner for streaming audio and streamripper enables ripping the stream to mp3 on my Debian box. Works very well and streamtuner can be configured to use any of your own favorite streams as well as a fairly substantial pre-set library of media sources.
