Post recompiling kernel 2.4.2-2

ok, so I have RedHat 7.1 (Linux 2.4.2-2) and I wanted to recompile my kernel...

I entered make config... make dep... make clean and make zImage...

all goes well it even starts make zImage

after five or so minutes, I get an error about an undeclared call to 'noautodma' or something... it says error[1] (or something like that)

can anyone help me? I really need to recompile my kernel, and this is holding me from doing that...

Why don't you try it with new 2.4.8 Kernel. May be it is a fault in your current kernel
