recompiled kernel on slackware 10.0, still can't compile new one
i have kernel 2.24.x and i am trying to upgrade to 2.6.x
i followed instructions from this thread (first post) http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=49035 but i screwed up because the file i downloaded from kernel.org was not the full source, but just a patch. in any case, all the commands i did even after editing lilo and makefile... didn't seem to work, and i just recompiled my old kernel. what am i doing wrong? after i get the full source on /usr/src/ what then?... help much apreciated. |
I wrote a little tutorial on kernel compiling that might help you out.
Made just for Slack, too! www.thelinuxbox420.com/kernelguide.html |
i gave it a fast read, and i liked the part when you mention "if you want to take a crap this is the time to do it"
i'll give it a go... i'll tell you if it works tomorrow. thanx a lot dude. |
