Recommendation for a backup utility?
 

I have set up an old PC box with Ubunto and Samba. Now I want to have this box perform automated backups of the 2 XP boxes and one Mac on my network. I have looked at "Keep" that cames packaged with Ubunto and it does not seem to like network paths. It also doesn't seem to have control over when to perform the backup.

Does anybody have suggestion on a good utility that:
1) Is low or no cost.
2) Is graphical
3) Accepts network paths
4) Can be scheduled for middle of night

There are many, many options.

Check out Amanda or read up on bash scripting and use tar and dar. Right now I use tar, dar, bzip2, and scp to handle backups (with some somewhat complex bash scripts) but soon I am going to give Amanda a closer look. For cross-platform networked backups Amanda may be your best F/OSS solution without having to write shell scripts.

Amanda and rsync are probably the most popular.

What I use at work for some of our clients is great free software called backuppc. It is awesome. It can backup via samba, tar, rsync, and is done in a very compact way.
