recognizing network printer

I have a home network using a Linksys router. Just installed Ubuntu on a separate drive on my old W98 computer. (dual boot) I want to be able to print from Ubuntu but have no idea how to configure Ubuntu to recognize the print server. When I access the router from my XP computer it sees the W98 OS, but not when I am running Ubuntu. However, I am able to get on the Internet. In the printer setup in Ubuntu, I've tried to use the Samba? setup for a new printer, however, the requirements are in this sequence: smb://[workgroup/]server[:port]//printer.
Knowing virtually nothing about linux, I am in a loss as to what information to put in. I know the workgroup name, the printer port is 192.168.1.100, and I'm assuming the necessary information for the //printer is the print server designation of PS00E880. Oh, by the way, I did this in the GUI environment. I know how to get to the terminal mode, but not what to do there. If no one wants to deal with an issue this trivial I'll understand
