hi,
what distro do u think a person whos only used windows before should use? (plz dont say redhat as i hate it!!) thx James :Pengy: |
Mandrake or Suse.
|
ok thx will try them ;)
:newbie: |
I've heard that Xandros is good too, but I've never used it :D
|
suse!!! i'm like you..i used windows, learned on windows...and i tried redhat and fedora...but suse was by far the easiest. i hear mandrake is great for new people too, but i've never tried it, so i can suggest suse :)

don't forget to search this site for "which distro" as this question is asked frequently...you will find numerous verbose threads that will offer lots of opinions...

I don't like distros that make it too easy for windows users. I think a distro like slackware is much better where there are few GUI tools to configure things and the user is thrown in at the deep end to learn how to do everything.

thanks for the replys guys, im going to try suse and if i dont like that ill try slackware and mandrake
thanks again James  |
when i first moved from windowx to linux i chose redhat.
i didnt really like it after a week or two i switched to slackware so far im happy with slackware. |
I've been running Fedora Core 1 on my laptop with no problems. Just ordered Slackware 9.1 and want to install it on a desktop so that will be for serious tinkering. There are some great reviews at this site: http://www.distrowatch.com/
