Rebooting into single user mode with a virtual box

Ok, so i'm fairly new to linux, and when i installed, i must have mistyped my root password because i have tried upercase and lowercase of all of the few possibilities i could have put in as my pw. I read online that a root password can be reset by logging into single-user mode, however i ran into a problem with this. I'm running Fedora 10 in a virtual box and when i boot up linux, i dont get the option to hit the prompt when it asks which OS i wish to boot in, because it boots directly into fedora 10.

Anyone know how i can reset my root password in a virtual box?

You will need to pull up the grub menu when your virtual machine is booting. This is done by hitting the escape key. Once the grub menu is displayed hit the "a" key on your keyboard. Then append a space and the number 1 to the end of the kernel parameter. Hit enter and it should then boot into single user mode.

Once finished loading type passwd and hit enter. You will then be prompted to change the password.
