Realtek soundcard not working with new drivers!

Dear All,

I have a Realtek soundcard assembled within my Asus laptop (Intel HD Audio system...).

Actually, it worked, only I had problems with multisound and there was no possibility to drive the input/outputs of the board.

So, I downloaded the latest Realtek drivers for Linux (the "other Linux distros" version) frome their official site.
I installed them, then, after the ALSA re-configuration throught the installation script,... there was no sound resource available, and so it stays now, even after rebooting!...

Do you know how can I (at least) get back to the original version of the drivers, provided by the distro? Or solve the problem?

I have SuSE 10.1 with kernel 2.6.16.13-4smp

Thank you all!

This is a sanity check but when you say no sound resource you mean that the sound doesn't work. Have you run alsamixer (in a shell) and made sure that all appropriate channels are not muted?
