Really stuffed

Ok, big problem. My run level is set at 4 which is startx from boot using Slackware 9.1. X won't start now, saying that pointer device is not set up correctly. I use the config tool but X still won't start. How can I edit my x86config file if this is the case. I can't get to the console.

Help!!!!!

What are you using to boot? LILO or grub theirs options to enter super user mode on booting. Check the respective sites for docs on this. Switching in to run level one.

Its a boot option, when the computer boot press tab when lilo comes up, and enter the kernel selection followed by the word single.
