Really dumb question but how do I edit a config file ?


I'm trying to set up a home network with RH9 and need to edit the smb.congig file but hav'nt got a clue how to I try in Open Office and it only saves it as a text file.

I'm sure I'm being really dumb but please, somebody put me straight..

In general - to edit a config file - for example lilo.conf - you'd

open a shell :type

su
root password

kedit /etc/lilo.conf

ie type your editor name then the path to the file.

Use whichever editor you want.
