Really basic script not working? Please help new re-starter!!


Any ideas why this is not working?

ubuntu@ubuntu:~/scripts$ ls
file_{01....121} file121 hello script script2

ubuntu@ubuntu:~/scripts$ touch {01....121}_file

ubuntu@ubuntu:~/scripts$ ls
{01....121}_file file_{01....121} file121 hello script script2

ubuntu@ubuntu:~/scripts$ touch {01....121}_file.txt

ubuntu@ubuntu:~/scripts$ ls
{01....121}_file file_{01....121} hello script2
{01....121}_file.txt file121 script

It would be helpful in getting help if you describe what you're trying to do and what is the expected result. If it is a questions about extended brace expansion I can only make you notice that it should be

{01..121}
and not
Code:
{01....121}
