What distribution of Linux are you running and what Windows Mgr. or desktop environment? With Konqueror, Rox and others you can right click and choose a default app to run specific kinds of files.

teckk 12-23-2006 06:12 PM

I'm using RealPlayer 10.0.7 and there isn't any playlist feature like for example Xmms has.

amao 12-24-2006 03:58 AM

Xmms doesnot work with me

The current version of RealPlayer for Linux doesn't support playlists. The next version (whenever that appears) will do. I've seen the playlist editor in a developer release, and it seems to work fairly well.

Whats wrong with XMMS? XMMS runs almost constantly on my box, and it works awesome(playlists included)...

I can't remember exactly what music apps Suse comes with, but here's some others you may be able to look around for, that work for me also(although XMMS is my fav)...

Rhythmbox Music Player
Juk
Beep Media Player- Very similar to XMMS and works with WinAMP skins, at least as long as they are in wsz format, I coudln't/can't get wal formats to work....

ok xmm dsnt play mp3 or any other form why

Most distributions play it safe to not include decoders and encoders that are illegal. Though this has not stop most users from getting them. You just need to find a 3rd party server that has such codecs.

The best multimedia player is mplayer. I suggest using it instead of realplayer. mplayer can play realplayer files. I suggest compiling mlayer to get the full features of mplayer because most pre-compile packages do not include all the codecs.
