ready to give up

I'm going crazy trying to get my soundcard to work! It's weird because when I first installed RH9 about 2 weeks ago my soundcard was working fine. But about a week ago it just stopped working. I've posted several times and yet nothing! sndconfig and aumxr and etc. don't work cause my soundcard isn't detected. Someone please help cause I love linux but I need sound. I would really hate to go back to XP just cause my soundcard doesn't work. I have an aureal a3d soundcard on a sony vaio. Please help! I'm going nuts!!!!!!!!
