reading windows files on linux

My modem is not working on my redhat8 (dual boot with XP) installation. My modem is an HSP56 micromodem and the chipset is CMI8738. From what i've read i have to download, compile and install the driver pctel-0.9.6.

My only download option is to use my XP installation. My question is if i transfer the file onto a diskette can i use it on linux bearing in mind the OS and file format diffrences.

Thanks.

Yeah if you can floppy the drivers it should be fine, the floppy is going to be formatted FAT, the archaic windows file system that ever computer on the planet can read because FAT was easy to deduce for Open Source coders, and well... because everyone needs a floppy! Then you can Sneaker Net the floppy onto the Linux machine, shouldn't be that big a deal.
