reading text files
 
hi i use gutsy.whenever i copy some commands or notes from net,save them in a document and try to read them later,i cannot open them.it reads
this file is executable file.do u want to display contents
open in terminal cancel display.

Display contents means just that, you can read it.

Sounds like you're not saving them in the correct format or with the wrong permissions.

It would help if you posted exact error messages and the way in which you're actually trying to open the files.

Yes, it's a file permission problem. If you right-click the file and look at permissions, you should see that "execute as program" is checked. Uncheck it and it will work. If you need to do this for a batch of files, you can use chmod a-x *
