Read, Write, User Permissions on a FAT32 partition

I have a FAT32 partition that I'm sharing with Ubuntu and Windows 7. Here's the thing, I need full read & write access for it in Ubuntu, and I've been unsucessful in getting this set up.

FAT32 is mounted on media\c

I've tried chmod *.* 775, with no luck. Bit of a newbie on this, can anyone recommend something? Thanks

I recommend google and/or the lq search function, since this is a question that comes up quite often. But to summarize quickly, FAT and NTFS cannot support *nix style ownership and permissions; they have to be simulated with various options to the mount command.
