Read-error on swap-device(9:0:8)

Loaded Suse10.3 on new machine. Partioner accepted my settings for the swap partion. Formatted it etc then on re-boot fails. Searching the boot.msg file i find the above error anybody any idea what's going on.

I suggest you fsck the swap device, or do a low level format.

The error probably means a media error on the drive, which could herald a failure or could merely be a bad sector that needs to be mapped out.

Thanks for the reply but ive already tried that with the same result.
