re: upgrading to the latest/greatest

Hello All:

I'm in the middle of dowloading before upgrading from rh 7.3 kernel 2.4.18-3 (using kde on the desktop) to the latest/greatest from rh (ver 9).

I'm looking for how-tos and opinions regarding upgrading in general, or specifics that I should watch out for.
Any relevant help greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, I am not that familar with RH9, but I would probably recommend backing up your home directories, taking note of what you have compiled from source and installed from things other than rpm's, and then doing a fresh install. Its my experience upgrading over an existing installation doesn't work that well (though I am investigating such a thing with urpmi for Mandrake). But I am not familar with yum or whatever RH uses to handle packages now. I'd still advise backing things up though of course
