RDP cannot copy folders

Hi,

I am a linux noob

I have a CentOS 7 distribution with XFCE installed, I have somehow managed to set it up so that I can connect via remote desktop from windows. I can copy files from the linux box to my windows PC without issue, however I cannot seem to be able to copy folders, which is a pain as I have a large folder structure that I need to copy.

I can select a folder and choose copy but when I try to paste it in Windows nothing happens. Files in the same location and within the folder and sub-folders will copy and paste OK but I have to create all the folder structure by hand

I am able to copy and paste the same folders within CentOS / XFCE when connected by RDP but not to the windows PC.

Thanks in advance for any ideas?

RDP cannot copy folders

Use tar to archive the whole structure into 1 file. On Windows you can then extract it with 7zip.

I'm not familiar with RDP (any more; if memory serves, I used it at work many years ago) but are you able to see the Windows target from the Linux CLI? If so, perhaps "cp -R Linux-src-dir Windows-target-dir" would work.

HTH... (or at least generates more ideas for you)

If you running xrdp to do this, then:
On the Windows machine, in the Remote Desktop Connection, on the Local Resources tab, under Local devices and resources, click on the More button and select a local drive to be used.
Once the RDP session is established to the CentOS server, copy what is wanted to the 'thinclient_drives' device in the Thunar file manager.

Thanks, this worked, the other solutions may have worked too but this was simplest for me.
