ram disk problem with loading Mandrake (stage 2)
Hi! I am trying to load Mandrake Linux 10.0 on a machine and I get the following error in the log:
*trying to load /tmp/image/Mandrake/base/mdkinst_stage2.bz2 as a ramdisk *mounting /dev/ram3 on /tmp/stage2 as type ext2 *stage1: disconnecting life support systems. I had tryed loading Lunix before and got farther than this (up to disk 3) but it had a lot of errors along the way and crashed, so I reformatted and started again with a new hard drive. The error occurs when it loads to system memory. Here are the machine's stats: Pentium 2 300 Mhz (66Mhz Bus Version) 128 RAM 4G hard drive ATI 3D Rage Pro 8mb video card monitor is a Gateway 2000 Crystal scan a plain PS/2 microsoft mouse Creative Labs Soundblaster sound card Hmm... I think that's all. Please help! Thank you for all who can help me!!! :-) |
Nevermind! I found the problem. I had a western digiatal hd that was BAD and a slow slow cdrom. I changed those out and it worked. Thought I'd post this just in case anyone else has this problem. :)
