ram
i heard that linux CAN NOT use any more than 128mb of ram
i forget who told me but they said that linux uses a max of 128mb of ram and anything else that is installed is useless and doing nothing is this true or just a lie? |
This is most certainly not true, unless perhaps one was speaking of a very old version of Linux. I am running the 2.4.18 kernel, and it handles my 512MB of RAM just fine.
|
i was told its not that it won't work or anything its just that even tho you have 512mb it only uses the 128 but i'm sure you know a lot more than i do heh :)
|
Well, you don't have to take my word for it. :) The next time you're using a (working) Linux system with more than 128MB, just type free and you'll see the current memory usage stats.
