ralink rt2500 and verizon mifi 2200 compatibility

I have an older model Sharp PCal27 with a Ralink RT2500 wireless LAN card. I have been able to connect previously to a linksys wireless network but I am not able to connect to a new Verizon Mifi 2200 card.
Any suggestions on setup would be appreciated.
I am able to connect to the Verizon card via a usb cable but not wireless.

Thanks for any help you may provide.

It would help to know what operating system you are using and if wpa is involved.

Linux drivers for rt2500 prior to the 2.6.27 kernels had a problem with wpa encryption. Ever since, they, mostly work. From a quick looksee on the Verizon card, it comes with wpa as default and this could be the problem.

Newer distros should handle the rt2500 and wpa out-of-box in most cases but not all will. Wpa_supplicant and network managers also have roles.

Ndiswrapper with windows drivers is often the best solution.

You will have better luck posting this on a Windows forum.

Thanks

Thanks for the input. I am going to buy a new computer tomorrow. This laptop I'm told is not compatible with current wifi products.
