Ralink 3572-Not Managed Ubuntu 15.10

Hello Linux experts,
i am glad to join this very interesting and addicting world(best way possible).Apologies if my question is too long.
i have a little problem and seeking help.
Note : the Wireless card is working seemlessly on my windows ,just plug and play, so it's not defective.
newly installed ubuntu 15.10: Linux 4.2.0-25-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 18 12:31:50 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ,and trying out some new stuff ,i bought an alfa AWUS051NH Wireless USB adapter, and trying to instal it,however it is not recognized, the screen flickers and i see : 'Ralink 802.11n WLAN' flickering on and off in connections with error "Not Managed".
I have allready tried looking for drivers for this kernel version ,but no luck .
i cannot see that it has been detected by the either and below some outputs :
- it is not recognized in USB:

Hi...

Welcome to the forum

Well, I can offer help regarding the "Not Managed" error (please see possible solutions here and here,) however, I doubt that that's the core issue. I'm not sure why the adapter is not showing up in "lsusb" nor do I understand why it seems to be hanging up on...

unless it's a driver/firmware or some settings issue.

Is the problem duplicated on other USB ports on your system?

Regards...

Hi Thanks very much for the response .
i have tried both the advised changing false->true , adding 2 lines to relevant files, restarted etc,i still get the same error.
i have googles all morning and it seems that a whole lot of people out there have the issue and it seems to be related to the driver(my idea from all the threads i have read so far).
confirmed this happens on all the usb ports i plug it into.
i am successfully able to use and external HDD and USB drive ,however the wireless card ,just refuses.

any other ideas ?
perhaps downgrade the ubuntu version ?
i understood it would be plug & play without the need of any drivers, perhaps this kernel version does not support it ?

thanks

Possibly. I just noticed here that your adapter can also use the "rt3572sta" driver. The main driver page can be found here, although, the one you want is here. I couldn't tell you how to install it but I'm quite sure some compiling via the terminal will be necessary. Hopefully, the driver package will offer some instructions. You also might want to Google to see how others installed it and if there are any necessary patches, etc.

Another idea would be to post this issue on Ubuntu's forum and see if you can get help from a gentleman by the username of "chili555." Very knowledgeable fellow when it comes to wireless adapters.

No, I highly doubt that will help.

Wireless support in Linux isn't as good as it is in Windows because of driver/firmware issues, which is mostly due to a lack (or as good) of support from manufacturers. I don't think it's a kernel issue in your case.

Thumbs up

Appreciate all the help and advises.
i have been trying to install the driver ,however the install completes with an error.
i have googled and googled and a whole bunch of people seem to have the same issue , with conclusion that it may be the kernel version, and as we know the support for these wireless card is really bad.i was able to install a RT2800usb driver, which got me a step further ,the device was being recognized and i was able to do some airodumps , monitor mode etc.however packet injection fails :-). Finally as final try ,i will resort to installing an older version of Kali Linux and see if that helps me out.I'ma gonna say a lost this battle , but not giving up on the war, will educate myself some more with Linux and it's OS and return !!!wuhahahaha..i'll be back!!Have a blessed day brother.
