Question raid concern

Im using SLES9

I have a 73gb scsi hdd with SLES9 installed. Now I will add another 73gb and enable the raid 0. My concerns:

1. Is it ok to enable the raid with the first 73gb already has OS installed.
2. If I enable the raid, is my OS in my first hdd is safe or my first hdd will be formatted?
