r9 install error, media failure lack of disk space
i have installled linux inmy lap top. now am trying to install it in my compaq presario desktop, i have two hardrives one is a 20 GB the other is a 120GB. on the first hd am running win98 on first 5GB partition and am trying to put r9 on the rest of the space of the first hd. but i always get an error message at the begginingof the configuration.
(unable to align partitions properly.this probably means that another partitioning tool generated an incorrect partition table, because it didn't have the correct BIOS geometry. it is safe to ignore, but ignoring may cause fixable problems) i click on ignore and than i get as far as the install and it just stops and gives me another message. (checj the media or something with the hardware. |
Hi
Check the media before doing an installation. Also check your hard disk for bad blocks regards rahul sundaram |

I'm getting same error message and my media (Installation CD-ROM disks) check good. I'm installing RH 9 on an 80 gig drive on a new computer that is fresh from factory w/windows xp, NTFS format. I've searched endlessly on numerous user groups and forums for an answer but can't find anything yet. When I track the problem down I'll try to post back. :study:

thanks a lot men. during my linux install i checked for bad blocks on my hard drive and it came back bad so now am trying to install in the first 3GB of the hard drive, if that does not work am going to have to trash the first 20 GB hd and stay with only my 80 GB hd, hopefully my install will work. thanks get back to you
