quota for email of users
Dear Friends,
I do not want to set up quota for groups but for users and I have just had partial success. I succeed to setup quota for users, but just for the /home/<user> files, but it is much more important for me to setup quotas for the /var/spool/imap directory where they receive their mail. One of the things I tried (very stupid!) was to change in the "/etc/fstab" the mount point for /dev/hda6 from "/" to "/var/spool/imap/user" and then my system was not able to boot properly. I manage to overcome this problem. Any help will be welcome. Héctor |
you might want to check this page out.. all about quotas for users and groups.. get you in the right direction.

That doc doesn't solve my problem
Thank you very much for your reply.
I had read that document before, and based on it I manage to set up quota for users, but for the /home/<user> directory, which my users can not access (so they don't put files there) so I do not need to quota that directory; my users are just email users so the directory that I want to quota is /var/spool/imap/user/<user> Thanks again for your quick reply. couldn't you create a partition for /var and add the quotas there for the users as it would be mounted and added to the fstab. not sure how else to add quotas to just one directory.

i'm a newbie to all of this, but...
could you make a group called emailusers and have them associated with the dir of interest? or pick an email solution that stores email files to the users home dir (/home/<user>)? just ideas/thoughts. -bock |
