Is there a way to watch quicktime .mov files in Linux. If so could you tell me how and try to make it as simple as possible since i am still really new to Linux. Thanks in advance.

http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=quicktime and http://www.google.com/search?q=linux+quicktime should turn up some results me thinks. Any decent app comes with a "README" file telling you how to install it if it ain't on their webpage. Read, try, and if it doesn't work out ask questions.

That depends on the codec used to make the file. If you go and get Mplayer, and the Win32 codec that come with it, you should be able to play most QTime files. At least one possible exception would be the Sorenson codec... I still haven't found a free download for that... but then, I haven't been looking!

Codeweavers cross-over plugin solves the problem with less hassle, you can try it for free with an adds pop up about hungry developers at codeweavers or you can shell out 25 bucks for add-free experience, the plugin supports not only Quicktime but Windows Media Player6.4, shockwave player, flash 6 (anyway it is free), realplayer (free as well), various windows fonts for browsing, etc. Check it out at http://www.codeweavers.com
I am not a codeweavers accossiative or representative, I am one of the happiest end-users that uses their products .
